Dentures

Missing teeth make it difficult to chew and speak properly. They can also take a toll on your appearance and oral health.

Dentures are custom-made prosthetic teeth that can replace several missing teeth at once and restore your smile.

Our dentists provide full and partial dentures as well as implant-supported restorations at Berger Dental Group in Columbia, SC.

Find out why so many individuals choose dentures to replace missing teeth, restore their appearance, and improve their quality of life...

Benefits of Dentures

Improve Function

A missing tooth or multiple missing teeth can make it difficult to chew properly. Gaps in your smile can also have a negative impact on speech. Dentures can restore normal function and give you more confidence in social situations.

Support Facial Features

When teeth are missing, facial features such as your cheeks and lips lack proper support. For this reason, many individuals with missing teeth have a "sunken-in" or hollowed appearance. Dentures restore teeth and properly support your facial features, helping you look healthier and younger.

Customize Your Treatment

Dr. Robert F. Berger and his team of dentists offer all types of dentures including implant-supported restorations. While removable dentures are an excellent option for those who do not wish to undergo oral surgery procedures, implant-supported dentures are a great choice for patients who want added stability and support for their jawbone.

Six Steps to a Restored Smile

For your convenience, Dr. Berger places and restores implants on-site.
For your convenience, Dr. Berger places and restores implants on-site.

Initial Consultation

To find out if you qualify for dentures, you will need to attend a comprehensive consultation with your dentist. During this appointment, we will take scans and digital x-rays of your teeth and jawbone to determine the best course of treatment.

Preparatory Procedures

In some cases, patients may require preparatory procedures before their dentures can be made. This may involve oral surgery procedures to remove teeth or periodontal treatments to prepare your gums. If you have chosen an implant-supported denture but have suffered some degree of jawbone deterioration, bone grafting can add density to your jaw so that it can successfully support implants.

Dental Implant Placement

Individuals who choose implant-secured dentures will undergo dental implant placement prior to receiving their new prostheses. Dr. Berger places and restores implants at our Columbia, SC, office. We offer oral conscious sedation or intravenous (IV) sedation to keep patients relaxed and comfortable during their treatment. Those who opt for traditional dentures can forego this step.

Dental Impressions

Next, your dentist takes impressions of your gums and any remaining natural teeth. Then, the impressions are sent over to our trusted dental lab. If necessary, your dentist can provide you with a temporary prosthesis in the meantime to protect your gums and fill the gaps in your smile.

Fabricating Your Denture

The impressions taken by your dentist are used to create a working model that details every aspect of your new teeth. At the dental lab, a highly trained technician creates your new dentures according to your dentist's specifications. Step by step, your new dentures are custom-built to achieve a lifelike look and a comfortable fit. This process may take a few weeks to complete.

Fitting Your Prosthesis

Once your full or partial dentures have been made, we will schedule you for another appointment at our Columbia, SC, location. Your dentist will let you try on your dentures to ensure a proper fit and a natural look. Keep in mind that it may take some time to adjust to your new dental appliance. Our team can help by making adjustments until the fit is just right.

Helping Your Dentures Look & Feel Great How to Care for Your New Smile

Proper care and maintenance can help your dentures look and feel great for as long as possible. Here are a few recommendations for keeping them in excellent condition:

Rinse your dentures after every meal.

Clean them daily using a soft brush and a non-abrasive denture cleanser.

Soak your appliance overnight to keep it from warping.

Always handle your dentures with care.

See your dentist regularly for checkups and relines.

Paying for Dentures We Help Make Quality Dentistry Affordable

Whether we recommend partial or complete dentures, our Columbia team does not want financial roadblocks to keep you from getting the treatment you need. Necessary preparatory work, sedation, and other factors will also influence the total cost.

That’s why our practice accepts most insurances and works with you to estimate your portion of the payment. We also accept CareCredit® financing to help keep out-of-pocket expenses manageable.

I have to agree with many of the reviews here...this place is great. They do a great job, but they are all so friendly and will talk to you and actually be interested in talking to you. And yes, the staff are like a family as someone else mentioned. It is pretty cool. It seems like it would be a great place to work. The techs and dentists also remember me, though I only recently became a patient of theirs. I definitely recommend these guys.

Dr. Berger and Dr. Pincelli are the best! They answer any questions I have and make sure all my needs are met. The whole staff is like a family and it makes you feel comfortable and at home.
